A new collaboration between Drexel’s Center for Cultural Partnerships and the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) will have Westphal students in the graduate Arts Administration and Museum Leadership, and students from our Architecture and Interior Design programs working closely with the Museum. Through this partnership, students will create a strategic plan for the museum this term working with Arts Administration Professor Neville Vahkaria. For summer and fall terms, two different architecture courses will make a case study of the Museum to identify ways to revitalize its exhibition spaces and facilities.

AAMP is the first Museum completely funded and built by a municipality in order to preserve and honor African American heritage, and it will be the first of many nonprofit organizations with whom the Center for Cultural Partnerships will engage with Drexel’s diverse expertise across many disciplines to address these non-profits’ major challenges and issues. Through these engagements, the Drexel community will have opportunities to participate through courses, co-ops, workshops and free admission opportunities.
